UHHA Symposium

The UHHA ( University Hub Haneda Airport) Symposium has been designed to provide an innovative and stimulating public forum for blending intellectual with practical considerations to help guide Japan toward an inspired and stimulating 21st century economy. In a sense, it intends to offer a Japanese intellectual version of "Woodstock".

UHHA projects will connect academics, university students, business, governments, international organizations, civil society, and the general public to help revitalize Japan and its place in the global economy. As an international hub of growing importance to Asia and beyond, Haneda Airport has become the gateway of Japan to the world. It embraces this role, and with it welcomes the opportunity, indeed the responsibility, to serve as the catalytic engine to launch this critically important symposium.

The 1st UHHA Symposium

The 1st symposium will be held at Haneda,Tokyo immediately after the IMF/World Bank annual meetings in Tokyo. This symposium has been designated as an official after-conference event by the IMF and World Bank Group. The symposium will create a unique opportunity to consider and contrast differences between 'Japan seen from inside Japan' and 'Japan seen through the global lens.' It will feature presentations, active debates and discussions among the varied constituencies in attendance, including the general public. The initial symposium will focus on "Globalization and High Education in Japan", recognizing that both the nature and style of knowledge development and acquisition must become at least as dynamic as other sectors of our ever-changing world.
